He is an individual member of the BACP, a graduate member of the British Psychological Society and a member of the International Positive Psychology Association (IPPA).
Nic’s first session is usually a collaborative assessment of the compatibility of your needs and goals and his skills and approaches.
Nic has a special interest in working with what he calls The Success Trap.
Having worked with many doctors over the last seven years, he has noticed that many of them have a history of success and that their identities form around the performances that produce that success. Success may not mean stereotypical success but developing particular strengths. This is all good and well. They wake up in the morning with a sense of who they are, what they want to do and how they're going to do it until they find themselves in an environment where however hard they try they cannot live up to their own standards.
This can result in chronic anxiety if there is an ongoing threat of this happening or more acute depression if it actually happens.
Nic has developed a psychological process that allows his clients to move beyond the Success Trap to sustainable performance, greater resilience and improved wellbeing.
An initial QI project produced promising results with average reductions in anxiety and depression pre and post 12 sessions of Integrative Psychotherapy using his method of 50% (n=29).
